Shiraz Robinson II
“Hello everyone, my name is Shiraz Robinson II. I am a plant biology major and math minor at the University of Maryland (UMD). I tutor math to collegiate athletes and high school students. Also, I am a part of the Terrapin Teachers Program. I am interested in holistic medicine, computational medicine, energy medicine, and quantum mechanics. Moreover, I am very passionate about increasing the representation of black males in medicine. Before I was a UMD student, I started my collegiate career at The Ohio State University (OSU). I was a biology major at OSU, and I minored in chemistry, professional writing, and philosophy. I had received mentorship from physicians, medical students, and scientists when I was at OSU. When I was in high school, I took a variety of biology and computer science coursework while playing football and other sports. Moreover, I graduated from high school with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. I had the experience of having a computer science internship and writing a five-chapter thesis in high school. I also had an internship at the FDA Oncology Center of Excellence (OCE). I have always been a late bloomer since I was a child. I have fought tremendous adversity and excelled under pressure since I was born. I didn't know that I had symptoms of Asperger's syndrome until loved ones identified me during July 2019.”
