Qazi Fazli Azeem
“Fazli Azeem has been a self-advocate for the Autism spectrum in Pakistan since 2006. He was the first self advocate for adults on the Autism spectrum of disorders in the country and as a result has represented pakistan in autism conferences in Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Qatar and USA. In 2013 he spoke on behalf of south asia at the united nations building in new york on world autism awareness day. He co-authored a book on Autism with adult self advocates (like Dr Temple Grandin) called "Been there, done that, try this! An aspies guide to life on earth" which was published in the UK and is available on Amazon. His interviews on pakistani morning shows such as Business recorder's loose ends, AAJ Tv's Kiran aur George, ARY Marina Mornings, HUM TV Morning show and Dawn news (which have been uploaded to youtube) as well as magazines, newspapers, radio and websites have educated pakistanis and pakistani origin parents of children with Autism. His workshops have trained special educators at KVTC, IBP, IVS, KU. He was nominated for the 2017 IAMKARACHI Ardeshir Cowasjee award for inclusion by NOWPDP for his nonprofit Autism Awareness work. Fazli Azeem won the US state department's Fulbright scholarship (2012-2014) and did his MFA in Design at MassArt and the MIT Media Lab. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Design at the Department of Media Sciences at SZABIST Karachi and practices and teaches Inclusive Design.“
