Isaac Gendler
“It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Isaac Gendler. Currently, I am an independent researcher writer a paper on the impact of the San Francisco Bay Area Housing Crisis on Regional Wildfire Hazards. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics from San José State University. While I was in undergraduate, I was active in research, and was able to secure Summer positions at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Carnegie Mellon University’s Engineering and Public Policy Department. It was through these experiences that I became fascinated with field of Climate Change Adaptation, or the process of adjustment to actual or expected climate and its effects. Basically, how can humans adapt their physical and social infrastructure to climate change? I write about this frequently on my daily science blog, which I have been running for over four and a half years now. To find it, just google "Isaac's Science Blog". I believe that my High-Functioning Autism is an asset for my career, since it lets me immerse myself in research literature and better understand other people’s viewpoints. In the future, I would like to become a Professor or Consultant working to bring adaptation capacity to systematically disempowered communities.“
